Berwick Rangers Womenโ€™s FC

Berwick Rangers Women’s FC is the senior womenโ€™s section of Berwick Rangers Football Club. Formed as the final step in a pathway for women and girls in the town into competitive senior football, they represent a growing presence in the local area, aiming to be both successful and sustainable on and off the pitch.

๐Ÿ“œ Club Overview & History

Home Ground: Shielfield Park (Berwick-Upon-Tweed). Playing at the club’s main stadium underscores the integration of the women’s team into the club’s long-term structure.

Identity: Established for the 2023/24 season, the team was created to slot into the existing local setup and compete at the highest level possible within the FA’s Womenโ€™s Football Pyramid.

Milestone: Since their inaugural season, they experienced rapid success, securing back-to-back championships in their early days to progress up the regional tiers, while also competing in the Vitality Womenโ€™s FA Cup.

โšฝ Competitive Standing (2026/27 Season)

League Level: Following a stint in the North East Regional Womenโ€™s League (NERWFL), the club made the strategic decision to resign from the regional setup ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. They have chosen to start fresh in Division 2 of the newly restructured, two-tier Northumberland Football League.

Experience: Entering this new chapter, the squad is focused on rebuilding, regaining their momentum, and establishing themselves as a competitive force within the county league structure.

๐Ÿ“ˆ The Berwick Rangers Pathway

Berwick Rangers provides a clear youth-to-senior pipeline designed to keep local talent engaged in the sport:

Junior Foundation: The women’s first team sits at the pinnacle of a structured local pathway. The foundation consists of the Berwick Rangers Wildcats for girls aged 5-11, moving to Squad Girls for ages 12-16, and then Tweedmouth Rangers Women, before graduating to the senior Berwick Rangers Women’s FC side.

๐Ÿค Culture & Ethos

Community Core: The team’s formation is heavily rooted in community engagement. The club firmly believes that involving girls and women in the town is central to building a sustainable, modern football club.

Community Support: The team is bolstered by strong local business backing, such as their recent front-of-shirt sponsorship by GoFibre. This investment is directed exclusively to improving facilities, supporting local players, and growing the teamโ€™s community footprint.
