**MATCH REPORT**

Clean sheet. Four goals. Plenty of chances & most importantly, a defensive performance that was absolutely superb.

Cullercoats Ladies travelled to a much improved Seaton Sluice side and produced a great performances, coming away with a not so comfortable 4–0 victory.

From the first whistle, Cullercoats were on the front foot, applying pressure and moving the ball around nicely. The opening goal eventually arrived when Mollie produced a looping effort from distance that sailed beyond the keeper to make it 1–0.

The second followed after some excellent link-up play between Iona and Sophie, who combined brilliantly before the ball found Mollie, who had time and space to turn and pick out the bottom corner from the edge of the area 2–0.

While the goals were grabbing the headlines, a moment of magic was happening at the other end.Seaton Sluice had a glorious chance to get back in the game, their talented winger went on a Mazy run taking on 3 players In the process but Ritchie just mistimed her last ditch tackle in the area which resulted in a penalty, A stonewaller but Rachel stood tall and produced an excellent save, parried away to safety to preserve our lead.

Across the back line, Cullercoats were organised, disciplined and aggressive when they needed to be, giving Sluice very little to work with.

Ht 0-2

Second half, Cullercoats continued to push.Jill, making her debut, was a constant attacking threat and looked extremely dangerous throughout. She came close with a terrific effort from around 18 yards, only to be denied by an excellent save. A very impressive debut and one that promises plenty more to come.

The third eventually arrived when Hannah who has been out for 2 years with the birth of her child, won a header in the middle of the park, Jill flicked it on, and Iona was on hand to poke the ball home. 3–0.

There were chances flying in at both ends, but once again the Cullercoats defence stood firm. Anna F playing Rb more than matched her talented counterpart but the Sluice winger got the better on this occasion and a dangerous free kick was awarded.

She produced a superb free kick that dipped and moved but it rattled the bottom of the post and Rachel was alert enough to make sure the rebound was dealt with and away for a corner.

Another debutant Anna L was enjoying her game in midfield, showing some fantastic touches and composure on the ball. She was also unlucky not to get on the scoresheet also after combining in a move which eventually saw Rhianna smash an effort against the crossbar.

And then came number four.

A handball on the edge of the box right-sided presented the perfect opportunity, Sophie whipped in a beauty, and Iona rose brilliantly, back post to power a header home. 4–0.

There was still time for more chances. Sophie drove down the right and pulled the ball back for Jill, whose effort was goal bound but cleared off the line.

Left flank and Mollie was in the mood for her hatrick showing pace and strength, beat her marker, left edge of the area & then smashed another effort against the crossbar, so unlucky!!

So, plenty of goals, plenty of chances and plenty of positives.

But perhaps the biggest positive was the clean sheet.

From Rachel in goal through to the back line of Anna F , Ritchie (Jo sub 59’) Cailin and Imogen (Sadie 45’) were simply Superb throughout and another debutant Jo settled in so well across the back line and with midfield protection of Holly & Rhianna Cullercoats looked extremely difficult to break down.

4 goals, 3 debutants lots of positives

A very pleasing performance, and Sluice can take great credit for playing their part in an entertaining game, pushing us until the final whistle and the improvement is a credit to the players and their club
