After a week off, the Lionesses reconvened away from home, hoping to pick up where they left off before the Uni games and add three points to the tally.

Preparations got off to an interesting start with an unfortunate game of β€œOdds On” in the changing room for Gabs… πŸͺ£

With that out of the way, the team headed out to warm up and get down to business.

The Lionesses started strongly, with the away side creating the early threats. There were a few heart stopping moments as the ball flashed across the face of the Walker goal, but somehow nothing found its way in.

At the other end, the back line put in a really solid performance, protecting our keeper brilliantly and dealing with anything that came their way.

Just ahead of them, Brooke was doing what Brooke does best in CDM, picking up loose balls, breaking up play and looking to move us forward.

Eventually the pressure paid off, and what a way to open the scoring.

Brooke made it 1–0, assisted by Erin, with a brilliant effort from outside the box that had a lovely flight on it before finding the net. πŸš€

The Lionesses continued to push, with Jinan doubling the lead at 2–0 after some good work from Linn to provide the assist.

The third came from a set piece. Chezza delivered the corner and Kathryn made a clever run around the back of her defender, getting the touch needed to turn it home and make it 3–0.

There was still time for one more, with Linn again turning provider for Jinan, who grabbed her second of the afternoon to complete the scoring at 4–0. πŸ’₯

A particularly special moment came later in the game as, after 14 months out, Becca finally made her return to the pitch. She entered the game in the number 10 role for the final 15 minutes, accompanied by a round of applause from her teammates. A long road back and a very special moment. πŸ’™

Overall, a really positive day out for the Lionesses, but plenty of credit has to go to Walker Central too. They fought hard, kept going throughout and never made things easy. A special mention also goes to their number 5, who impressed us with her performance and gave everything during her minutes on the pitch.

It was a really pleasant first meeting between two teams who had never faced each other before, and exactly the kind of friendly fixture we love to see in the league. 🀝

➑️Top of the table again, away to Berwick next.

A brilliant shift out on the wing from Chezza, who never stopped working. She caused problems throughout with her delivery, putting dangerous balls into the box both along the ground and through the air, constantly creating a threat for the Lionesses and topping it off with an assist from the corner.

And most importantly… thanks leaving that wine corked before the game, Chezza! 🍷
