This Sunday we travel to Kirkley Park for our final pre season friendly against Wallsend Women, 2pm kickoff.
Playing in the North East Regional Premier Division, tier 5 Wallsend provide us a real challenging game, really putting our fitness levels to the test. Last season, they competed FOUR divisions above us, so whilst a mismatch on paper, we hope to use this game to really prepare ourselves for our big FA Cup game on the 6th of September.
Our pre season has been enjoyable but also meaningful, with a number of intentionally tough fixtures scheduled to push our players and really raise the bar in terms of the standard expected. As we make the step up to the NFL Premiership, we want to make sure we are as prepared as possible to make the step up and do well, so this friendly is not about the result, but learning how to play against an elite side that will attack relentlessly with pace.
